Group Therapy
What is Group Therapy?
Group therapy brings together a small number of teens who are going through similar challenges. Groups are led by a licensed therapist and provide a safe, structured space to talk, listen, and learn new skills together.
Teens might join a group focused on:
Anxiety or social anxiety
Depression
School stress
Friend and relationship challenges
Emotion regulation
Self-esteem
Coping skills
Common life experience
Each group is confidential, supportive, and designed to help teens feel understood and less alone.
Why Group Therapy Is Especially Helpful for Teens
1. Teens Learn Best From Peers
Adolescence is a stage where peer relationships matter deeply. Hearing “me too” from someone their own age can be more powerful than hearing advice from adults.
2. It Reduces Isolation
Many teens believe they’re the only one struggling. Group therapy helps them realize others share similar thoughts and feelings.
3. Real-Life Social Practice
Group provides a safe place to:
Practice communication
Set boundaries
Navigate conflict
Build confidence
These are skills teens use every day at school and with friends.
4. It Builds Confidence
When teens offer support to others, they begin to see their own strengths. Helping someone else often increases self-worth.
5. It Normalizes Emotions
Big emotions are part of adolescence. Group helps teens understand that intense feelings are common — and manageable.
Why we are passionate about offering groups
Since COVID, we’ve seen a significant shift in the emotional and social needs of children and teens. Many feel lonelier, more anxious socially, and unsure of how to reconnect in person. While they may spend hours communicating online, meaningful face-to-face connection is often missing.
Teens today are hungry for safe, supportive environments where they can put their phones down, laugh together, share honestly, and feel truly seen.
Group therapy offers a structured space to rebuild confidence, strengthen social skills, and remember what real connection feels like.
